Happy New Year 2020

Image
HOPE:" Hope is not the closing of your eyes to the difficulty, the risk, or the failure. It is a trust that if I fail now, I shall not fail forever; And if I am hurt, I shall be healed. It is a trust that life is good, love is powerful and the future is full of promise! Author unknown Powerful words, don't you think? As I was struggling to write this month's newsletter, I stumbled across this quote I keep in my wallet. It really moved me this time and I kept coming back to it, because it reminds me of what the New Year holds for each of us; hope! Hope for a better tomorrow that is filled with greater health, love, peace and happiness, etc. The New Year represents a fresh start, clean slate or second chance. It's the time of year when we reflect on the past and renew our commitment to become our best selves and do more than we've previously done. Happy New Year CELEBRATION To paraphrase Denzel Washington, "I really believe we are already great and desti...

Happy New Year Happy New Decade

Image
An association 'goes to bid' on some required professional services. The 'bid' is received from a client and friend of the president of the association. When compared to the existing service provider, there is a substantial cost savings, which on the surface sounds like a good thing. Under closer scrutiny, especially since the professional services are regulated by state government, it turns out that the cost savings are the result of a reduced scope of services by the new provider. Worse, the association collects on a claim with the existing service provider even after it knows it will not be continuing its contract. The members of the association are not fully informed of the details; they are told there is a new service provider who is offering more service for less money. Everybody seems happy, right? Wrong! The now-previous service provider has been used and dumped. The savvy association members have asked questions but they cannot get answers. The silent majorit...

Keeping the "Happy" in Happy New Year

Image
As we begin the New Year, I thought it appropriate to explore the very greeting that so many of us share with one another this time of year. My unscientific assumption is that most of us want very much to be happy. For me, it's like a dashboard indicator that the myriad pieces that make up my life are generally working well and are in harmony with each other. But how do you find it? I've long heard that happiness is a journey, not a destination. Others have opined that happiness is a choice we make (or not) each day. Both notions are true of course, but they're not the whole story. Happy New Year GIFTS New Research on Happiness There have been several studies published recently which have explored the notion of happiness on a much more thorough and scientific basis than ever before. In her new book, The How of Happiness, University of California Professor Sonja Lyubomirsky concluded that as much as 50% of a person's capacity to be [consistently] happy is either g...

New Year - Challenges - Part 2

Image
Focus-- You need a focal point to keep giving you direction, perception, and understanding. When you loose direction then all hope may not be lost. Really, it's not lost at all but temporary distracted by something more interesting. Find your way back quickly or serious repercussions will be faced. #2 Concentrate-- The point of concentration is the center of activity, attraction, or attention that interferes or enhances your abilities. Most people fail due to I want this, I want that, and I want other things. Things is the cause of many downfalls taking on more that you can possible handle. Happy New Year MESSAGES #3 Apply-- Everything you choose to do needs to have a practical purpose. You will need to diligently apply pressure to obtain the desired effect. If the proper connection is not made then what you've strive so hard for may get disconnected and lost. #4 Achieve-- This is a gradual process that is obtained only by doing. At first it will be slow and yes...

Happy New Year 2020 and Spirituality

Image
I wish to commune with you today for the passage of this new year. The cycle of time is something which is at the same time inexorable and beautiful. The cycle of seasons, stars, the constant changes that are shaking our lives are all small stones arranged in the path of our lives to show us our way back home, back to the divine infinite, that lost paradise that we must claim as it is our fundamental right to return to this state of grace. For most of you and as for me, 2010 was a year of changes, a year with many new ideas that have sprouted and a year during which life took you off guard sometimes quite brutally. However, these rude awakening should not be condemned but rather honored. For all the changes and challenges that stand are as many opportunities to find your true self, to show the world and yourself the flame that resides in your heart. When I talk about spirituality, people often tell me that it is illogical to believe in a god that would leave many things happening...

Welcome A New Year and New You

Image
Congratulations to 2012 and yes it represents a new beginning for each of us and the world community. When the clock ticked to midnight, we all turned the calendar and here we are in 2012 and enjoying every minute of it. People all over the world are happy because we can mutually agree, 2011 was as tough as it gets. With natural disasters, economic upheaval, political posturing, job loss, mortgage default and sadly, lost of hope. Happy New Year IMAGES Many of us are happy to have kicked 2011 to the curb, sort of speak. A new year mean new beginnings for each of us. For example, some people write down and or make resolutions and or goals to inspire them to do something they have always wanted to do and or never dreamed of doing. What about you? Did you make new year resolutions and if so, what are they? In keeping with one of my mentors, Dr. Wayne Dyer encourages us to make daily goals. Dr. Dyer is on to something, daily goals are more manageable and achievable and we will not...

Five New Year's Resolutions For Your Nonprofit In 2020

Image
Lots of people make New Year's resolutions and pretty much everyone makes the same resolutions and they make the same resolutions every year. But how can we apply these same resolutions to our ministry so that 2011 is better than 2010? Let's take a look at 5 resolutions that are listed in almost every top ten list and see how we can apply the same principles to ministry. 1. Spend more time with Loved Ones Starting and running a nonprofit ministry can be consuming to say the least. Compound this fact with taking on too much of the administrative and direct ministry and you are heading for burn-out quickly. How much more time could you spend with loved ones doing ministry if you could get some of the administrative functions out of the way. Happy New Year QUOTES I know of no one who came into ministry so they could be an administrator, a grant writer, a fundraiser, or to otherwise manage the tasks of running a nonprofit. People start ministries to help, to serve, to comfo...

Executive Directors - Happy New Year!

Image
Happy New Year to all the executive directors of all the non-profit organizations across our country! Actually, it's not just a new year, but it's a New Decade. Endeavor to make the most of it. I am increasingly of the opinion that 'ethics' is the key issue that will set your organization apart from all the rest. Sadly, we are not having to look far to find examples - actually, case studies in-of-themselves - of serious ethical breaches all around us. Do you follow them? More importantly, do you analyze them and seek to apply them to your organization? Have you led a fact-based (i.e., actual example) discussion with your board of directors on an ethical issue that could be related to your own organization for the purpose of being instructional, defining leadership, and differentiating your organization from your peers? Is this something you could do in the New Year? If you did, do you agree it would serve your organization well in the New Decade? Happy New Year GREE...

Beyond New Years Resolutions that Don't Work

Image
Welcome to this New Year. This is often a time of reflection, a time of closure and a focus on new beginnings. Often it is a time when we resolve to make ourselves better or happier in some way. In this last Blessing for YOU ezine of the old year I want to suggest certain ways that will allow you to be more creative, more present and more at peace in this coming year. The first resolution is that you promise not to divide yourself against yourself. You promise not to judge yourself in any way. You allow yourself to be as you are and your life situation to be as it is. If you do judge yourself then you resolve to become aware if you judge yourself for judging yourself! In this way you become like a Russian Doll. Inside you shrink. Inside the heart shrinks. See how long you can practice this loving kindness to yourself during this New Year. Real change arises from awareness and insight. Nothing really changes through judgement except increased division and the creation of a harder ...

Happy New Year 2020 - 4 Steps To Plan Your Goals

Image
Did you know that most people set goals each year and never complete them? They are very easy to set but harder to see them through to the end. So help is on the way. A plan is usually written on paper in some type of outline format. But you can write words on paper all day long and they mean nothing. So nothing will never get done. Now it is time to be selective about what is written down and chosen to do in your plan. Think about doing it the following way by creating a personal 2011 goals plan that will get completed by you. Step 1. The mental mindset requires you to ask yourself the question, "How do I think about what I really want to do this year?" This question will help you gauge your thoughts because they really do matter. If your mind is not set right at the beginning then it will not be set right at all. I will let you borrow my quote to get your mind set right and keep it that way for the duration of this year. Then you can come up with your own personal...

In the recent years, however, the internet is being used by business owners to establish their branding and perform online trading.
